3 Tech companies exposing your privacy

The high tech era is here to stay, majority of us enjoy the short cuts technology offers and how much it could streamline our lives.  But let’s explore 3 companies that keep exposing our information, and keep telling us they are working on it without any real solutions.

Google

Belgian public broadcaster  said in a report last month than the alphabet inc. employees contractors around the globe to listen to some recordings of conversations that people have within the google assistance, which is available in its  home speakers and android devices. Furthermore a report by the public broadcaster, said google is recording voices of customers even when they aren’t using google assistance.

Amazon

Amazon inc, offers also virtual assistance. In May a coalition of privacy and child advocacy groups filed a complaint with federal regulators about amazon potentially preserving conversations of young users through is echo dot kids devices. A representative say at the time amazon was compliant with federal privacy laws and that privacy policies are disclosed in a company’s website.

Amazon Law Suit

Guardians of minors filed law suits last month in California state court and federal court in Seattle alleging Amazon doesn’t obtain consent from children or their parents when they use its voice assistance. Amazon acknowledge,  its echo home speakers mistakenly recorded a private conversation, and sent it to a person in the owner’s contact list!

Apple

Apple has disabled the walkie-talkie app on watches after finding a security flow, that could allow a person to listen in on someone else’s conversation without consent, the second eavesdropping glitch the company has moved to address in recent months as scrutiny of tech giants intensifies.

Apple Promise

Apple said, that it would add new privacy features to the iphone with the release of iOs 13 this fall, including a tool allowing users to sign into iphone apps without revealing personal information, such as e mail address. It will also introduce a feature design to make it easier for consumers to see how apps are tracking their location.

Apple Vulnerability

At the time amazon was compliant with federal privacy laws and that privacy policies are disclosed in a company’s website. According to Apple’s spokesperson. But after a face time privacy bug that allowed a user calling another person via the face time app to listening on conversation happening on the other end, when the user never accepted their called. The glitch could have been used to eavesdrop on rooms with unattended devices  to receive  an unauthorize video feed from an iphone!

Conclusion

Apple is set to testify at antitrust hearings, next week in Washington DC, just like facebook has been doing lately. I think the walkie talkie app on apple, echo dot kid devices from amazon, and google assistance must be on the look consistently if not removed from your technology list of items to streamline your day. I have removed them all!.
