Personal Trainer In Morris County NJ Dissects the Bench Press Theory

In my view bench press has been the most overrated exercise of all times , I have seen many injuries forming moving weight through bench pressing. I have the same issues for years but recovered and kept trying till I had a shoulder injury that set me up for weeks. I have been careful with the form and weight bearing, since I retake my weight training routine, and as a trainer and kinesiologist, I have learned used proper form for the exercise. I could almost think is a problem with the way m shoulders are built and not the exercise, but after seen many clients injured due to the nature of the exercise, I can assure myself and others that the bench press is the king of all injuries without a doubt.

Bench Press Nightmare

According to St Elizabeth hospital One of the most common sites of injury is the rotator cuff, a system of 4 muscles and a tendon that surrounds our main shoulder joint. The function is to move the shoulders and stabilize the joint but the rotator cuff shoulders are unfortunately the weak link in our shoulders and without appropriate warm up, stretching and build up, they can get inflamed subacromial bursatis or tear.

Subacromial Busrsitis

A subacromial Bursitis is when there is pressure on the bursa of the shoulder (a sack of fluid that decreases (a sack of fluid that decreases rubbing and friction in our shoulder during movement) that causes it to erode increasing friction and rubbing on muscles.

A torn rotator cuff is a serious injury caused by oveloading weights and it needs immediate help from a medical professional.

Another common injury is the glenoid labral tear which impacts the soft tissue cuff the surrounds the shoulder socket.

What symptoms should I look out for?

signs and symptoms of injuries include pain in the arm and shoulder which varies depending on the severity of the tear. You may experience tenderness or weakness unusual crackling or grinding noises uncomfortableness an inability to sleep on the shoulder, or exercise full range of motion and in the case of pec tear sometimes there will be a visible cosmetic deformity in the chest wall.

How can bench press injuries should be treated

Treatments of rotator cuff injuries include anti inflammatory medication, injections, ice, physiotherapy for minor injuries and can graduate to arthroscopic shoulder surgery, if symptoms persist, but if you suspected a tear it is advisable to consult an upper limb specialist who may explore operative and non operative shoulder treatment injuries.

Conclusion

Whether you are a seasonal gym enthusiast or gym rat, understanding the repercussions of a shoulder injury or hindering other muscles could help you prevent and create a better foundation for your overall body and furthermore, keep you injury free.
