The fade isn’t something new, according to the American Barber Association it has been around for decades. Originally worn in the 40s. And continued in black and Hispanic barbershops, the fade really got elevated into popular culture, in the 90s with people like Will Smith in the fresh prince of bell air.
I personally thought that the fade haircut was seen as an edgier hair style, that may have not been accepted in the work place, but with the resurgence with the fade, I have seen the last few years has come of great acceptance for rocking these sort of styles. And with that, it wasn’t until last few years the fade haircut has taken a huge leap into all hair types with more and more gents looking to rock it combined with almost every hairstyle imaginable.
What are the difference types of fade haircut
There are about 5 and we will start with the4 most common one hopefully this guide helps in taken the right choice into your next trip to the barbershop!
- Taper fade
This is fade around the neckline or side burns. This should be a small subtle fade that is the lowest and least harsh of all of the fades types.
- Low Fade
In the movie the king, we observe Timothe Chalamet using a skin fade haircut. So if you went down to skin the skin would be kept very low and the faith into longer length would start around a third of the way up your head. This is great for all those gents who don’t want a harsh haircut, but would still add some transition to the back and side.
- Mid fade
The fade will start halfway up the head and somewhere between a third to two thirds of the side of the head. This will often be about just eyebrow height and can frame the eyes nicely.
- High fade
- The highest of the fade. This will start anywhere in the final third or so of the head and is the harshest of the 3 fades when worn tight and high this fade can almost reach the crown before transitioning into longer, which makes it a lot more harsh.
